Welcome to
Šibenik, Croatia
Set along the stunning Adriatic Coast where the Krka River meets the sea, Šibenik is a city rich in history and Mediterranean charm. Unlike many other coastal towns in the region, Šibenik was founded by Croats and was first mentioned in 1066 as the seat of Croatian King Petar Krešimir IV—earning it the nickname “Krešimir’s Town.”
Šibenik is a place made for exploration, where centuries of history blend seamlessly with the vibrancy of modern Dalmatian life. It is one of the few cities in the world to boast two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the magnificent Cathedral of St. James, an architectural masterpiece built entirely of stone, and the St. Nicholas Fortress, which has long guarded the entrance to the St. Anthony Channel.
Fans of Game of Thrones may recognize Šibenik’s ancient architecture and formidable defenses, which made it an ideal filming location for the free city of Braavos. The city’s winding streets and main square brought the setting to life, with the impressive St. James’s Cathedral serving as the Iron Bank.
The historic Old Town is a captivating labyrinth of narrow stone alleys, lively squares, and hidden courtyards. Wander at your own pace to discover the city’s other fortresses—St. Michael’s, Barone, and St. John’s—each offering breathtaking panoramic views of the sea and the Šibenik archipelago.

St. Nicholas Fortress
Discover Šibenik’s second UNESCO World Heritage Site: the distinctive, Venetian-period St. Nicholas Fortress. The park is a natural karst phenomenon, featuring the Krka River as it flows over seven travertine barriers, creating spectacular cascades, including the iconic Skradinski Buk.
Kornati National Park
For a truly unique maritime adventure, the nearby Kornati Archipelago – often called a “nautical paradise” – is an unforgettable choice. Comprising 89 densely clustered islands, islets, and reefs, the park is famous for its dramatic, rugged limestone cliffs (known as krune or “crowns”) that plunge vertically into the deep-blue Adriatic Sea.
